Control Resonant is a direct follow-up to the 2019 game, but Remedy has changed quite a bit from the original. As well as introducing a new protagonist, Dylan Faden—the brother of the main character from the first game, Jesse—the game has shifted genres; the developers have confirmed multiple times that it is an action-RPG. Recently, the game’s creative director, Mikael Kasurinen, shared more details in an interview with MinnMax. He called Control Resonant the studio's best game so far and teased many surprises, including nods to their other projects, some of which are planned for the future.

By the way, Remedy has previously discussed the possibility of a third Control installment but stated that it depends on the success of Control Resonant. Additionally, the studio is also working on remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2, which are now in full production, as well as a new IP that is currently in the concept phase.
