Insider Claims Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake Will Be Revealed This Year, Hinting at Gamescom 2026

As is known, the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, one of the best RPGs ever made, was announced back in 2021. There were rumors it might have been canceled since we hadn't heard much about the game for a while. Well, that doesn't seem to be the case, at least for now, and there's a chance we could see new footage as soon as this year, maybe even next month.

That's something that well-known insider 100% Star Wars, who has ties to publisher Saber Interactive, is suggesting. In a new video on his YouTube channel, he claimed that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic—Remake will be revealed this year; it could be Gamescom 2026, which is taking place next month, or The Game Awards in December. However, there is still a chance that doesn't happen, though, in which case we would be looking at a reveal next year instead.

Kotor Remake is supposedly planned to be Re-revealed this year, but could be delayed to next year - 100% Star Wars

Incidentally, Saber Interactive CEO Steve Allison recently gave players some hope that the year of 2028 will bring not just the KOTOR remake but other Saber-published video games too—including the new Space Marine, a John Wick game, and a few unannounced titles. Despite that, the new IGN report denies this as it confirms none of the games mentioned above currently have a set release date, as you can check out below:

“Steve was responding to a player primarily asking about plans for microtransactions in future titles, and he was speaking broadly, not officially, about the future slate of Saber games, which he's incredibly excited about. We have not announced any release dates or confirmed launch windows for Saber's upcoming titles. Please stay tuned for more information on all of our games, like Turok: Origins and Hellraiser: Revival, launching October 8!”

Besides Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake, another RPG set in the franchise is in the works: Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, from Arcanaut Studios, with Casey Hudson—the original KOTOR and Mass Effect trilogy director—attached to the project. Meanwhile, despite facing a lot of internal problems, Quantic Dream recently confirmed Star Wars Eclipse is still alive. And Star Wars Galactic Racer, a new arcade racer from Fuse Games, is set to launch October 6 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is confirmed to be in development for PC and PlayStation 5. The game’s release date is currently unknown.
