Forgotten Star Wars Video Game Is Still In Development and Could Be Released In 2028
There are currently several Star Wars video games confirmed to be in development, but most of them don't have official release dates yet. One of them is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake—an enhanced version of one of the greatest RPGs of all time, which was announced back in 2021.
The game was originally being developed by Aspyr, but the work has since shifted to Mad Head Games. Despite that change, a lot about the remake remains unclear, and fans have started worrying about potential development issues. As Reddit users spotted, though, Steve Allison, CEO of Saber Interactive (Mad Head Games' parent company), revealed that 2028 will see several major releases from the company. That list includes a new Space Marine installment, the recently announced John Wick game, and, surprisingly, Knights of the Old Republic Remake, as well as a few unannounced titles. You can check out Steve Allison's statement below:
“My job isn’t to squeeze money from Saber’s products through tactics like that. We are preparing to do more self-publishing and I’m here to organize the group in preparation of the lineup forming for 2028 (like when I came to Telltale in 2010, also no microtransactions company) that includes Space Marine, John Wick, hopefully KOTOR remake and a few unannounced titles.”
Earlier this year, an insider claimed that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake could potentially be revealed this year. He also revealed to have seen footage, adding it looked significantly better than the version Aspyr had been working on. Still, the game has no official release window, and Mad Head Games hasn't shared much about the project in quite a while.
In addition to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, another RPG based on the franchise is in development— Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic; Arcanaut Studios and Casey Hudson, the original KOTOR game director and the lead behind the Mass Effect trilogy, are responsible for the project. Meanwhile, despite facing multiple problems inside the studio, Quantic Dream recently confirmed that Star Wars Eclipse is still alive. Moreover, Star Wars Galactic Racer, a new arcade racer from Fuse Games, is set to launch on October 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
