Leon S. Kennedy Is Rumored to Appear In Resident Evil Veronica

As is well known, next year Capcom will release Resident Evil Veronica—a remake of 2000's Resident Evil Code: Veronica. The story focuses on Claire and Chris Redfield and takes place after the events of Resident Evil 2. Before the official announcement, which took place at Summer Game Fest, multiple reports suggested that Resident Evil Veronica could become the biggest remake in the franchise's history, and a new rumor also hints that one of the universe's most iconic characters, who wasn't in the original game, might make a surprise appearance.

This is about Leon S. Kennedy, one of the most iconic characters in Resident Evil history, who once again won over fans this year as one of the two main protagonists in Resident Evil Requiem. In the original Code Veronica, Leon was only mentioned in an email, but according to franchise insider Marcox, Capcom might dedicate a full scene to him, linking Resident Evil Veronica to the events of Resident Evil 4 or even the aforementioned Resident Evil Requiem, as you can check out below:

"In the original Code Veronica, Leon was only mentioned via an email from Claire informing him of her whereabouts. Current leaks suggest that Capcom may give him a cinematic appearance or a playable scene to connect the events to Resident Evil Requiem/9 or RE4 Remake."

In further posts on X, Marcox also mentioned that Resident Evil Veronica will include even more teasers linking it to Resident Evil Requiem, and that content that didn't make it into the final cut of the 2000 game could be added as DLC— especially content involving its side characters. This week, the insider also revealed other potential details about Resident Evil Veronica, including information about the game's physics, crafting system, and even an unexpected playable character.

This isn't the first time we've heard that Resident Evil Veronica might somehow be related to Resident Evil Requiem. Previously, another well-known insider, Dusk Golem, suggested this connection could revolve around The Connections and Zeno, one of the antagonists in Requiem. Speaking of Leon S. Kennedy, he is believed to also be one of the main characters in the upcoming story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, which is officially in development. However, details about it remain unknown for now.

Resident Evil Veronica will release in 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
