Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Broke Another Rating Record

The release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has undoubtedly become a major event not only for gamers and franchise fans but also for Ubisoft itself. Not only is this the first remake in the series' history, but the game's financial performance is impressive too: as the studio recently announced, Black Flag Resynced sold 2 million copies in its first 24 hours after launching on July 9, and it seems this is only the beginning.

Furthermore, it's worth noting that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has become the highest-rated game in the series in the past 13 years, since the release of the original Black Flag. The game currently holds a Metacritic score of 84, but that's not the only record it has broken in terms of ratings. Users have also given Black Flag Resynced the highest user rating in the franchise— an impressive 8.8 based on 384 user reviews. By comparison, even the legendary Assassin's Creed II scores lower (8.7), not to mention titles like Shadows (6.1), Mirage (7.0), Odyssey (6.9), Syndicate (6.8), Brotherhood (8.3), and others.

Considering that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced did not have the smoothest launch on Steam, even though it already holds over 70% positive reviews, the fact that the game has become the highest-rated title in the franchise's history according to players—surpassing both Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood—shows how much work Ubisoft has put in. Speaking of the remake's performance on Steam, there have been successes as well: for instance, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced attracted nearly 100,000 players at launch (99,451), setting a new record for the highest number of concurrent players in the franchise's history.

It's very likely that the success of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will lead to even more enhanced versions of older entries in the franchise being released in the coming years. The first of these will probably be a remake of the original 2007 Assassin's Creed, especially considering that the studio has already teased as much.
