Capcom Cut Fun Detail from Resident Evil Requiem About Grace and Her Shooting Using Revolver
It’s been a while since the release of Resident Evil Requiem—arguably one of the best, if not the very best, video games of 2026. In recent months, Capcom shared a lot of information about the game's development, including some cut content that didn't make it into the final version. It turns out that one of these cut features involved Grace, one of the main characters, and the game’s powerful weapon, which has the same title as Resident Evil’s latest installment—Requiem.
In an interview with Futabanet Manga Plus, Resident Evil Requiem’s game designer Keiji Teranishi revealed that the studio had considered making a scene where Grace Ashcroft is literally thrown back by shooting the Requiem gun in the game’s opening chapter. With this, the developers wanted to emphasize her physical weakness but ultimately decided that such an option might slow down the game's pacing. Instead, they settled on the option where, after shooting, Grace only flinches and feels a slight pain in her arm. You can check out more detailed information from Teranishi below:
“At one point we even considered having Grace get blown backward by the recoil every time she fired the Requiem, but we decided against it because it became too comedic.”
Resident Evil Requiem has been a huge success for Capcom, becoming the fastest-selling video game in the franchise with sales exceeding 7 million copies. The developers are currently working on a story DLC for the title, though official details and a release date are remaining unknown. According to rumors from the leaker who revealed details about the original game, which turned out to be true, it will focus on two-character duos: Leon S. Kennedy/Alyssa Ashcroft and Chris Redfield/Ada Wong.
In addition, at Summer Game Fest, Capcom announced Resident Evil Veronica—a remake of the 2000 video game, scheduled for release next year. According to unofficial information, the studio is also actively developing a Resident Evil Zero remake and the franchise's tenth installment, which could be set in Japan for the first time in the game series’ history and bring together several iconic characters.
