Capcom Rejoices: Sales of the Entire Resident Evil Series Hit $23 Million in One Year
In February of this year, Capcom released Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth installment in the franchise, which became a massive success and their best-selling game ever. However, the company’s latest financial report confirms that throughout the past year, the entire Resident Evil franchise performed exceptionally well, solidifying its position as the studio’s main source of revenue.
Capcom has released a new financial report revealing that between March 2025 and March 2026, the Resident Evil franchise sold over 23 million copies, setting an undeniable record. The report also provides additional details on individual game sales:
- Resident Evil Requiem - 6.9 million copies sold
- Resident Evil 4 Remake - 3.6 million copies sold
- Resident Evil Village - 3.6 million copies sold
- Resident Evil 3 Remake - 3.4 million copies sold
- Resident Evil 2 Remake - 2.9 million copies sold
- Resident Evil 7 Biohazard - 2.6 million copies sold
The results have been truly astounding for Capcom, but the studio clearly has no plans to slow down. Rumor has it that this year they will release a Remake Trilogy (Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4) for the Switch 2, and next year we can expect not only the recently announced remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, titled Resident Evil Veronica, but also a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. In addition, Capcom plans to launch a remake of Resident Evil Zero in 2028, which is currently in active development.
