Spyro: A Realm Beyond—New Spyro Title Revealed at Xbox Games Studios

The recent Xbox Games Showcase presentation from Microsoft gave fans several announcements that brought a welcome sense of nostalgia. In addition to the new installment of Crazy Taxi, titled World Tour, Activision and Toys for Bob revealed the return of the Spyro franchise, a move that had been long rumored.

Excluding the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a remake of the original trilogy released in 2018, Spyro: A Realm Beyond is the first major new installment in the franchise in nearly 20 years. The debut trailer confirmed one of the mechanics fans had been eagerly awaiting for years—the ability to fully fly across the game world. Developers at Toys for Bob, who previously worked on Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, have confirmed that Spyro: A Realm Beyond will feature a new open world and various fresh mechanics, while still striving to preserve the spirit of the original games. You can watch the debut trailer for Spyro: A Realm Beyond from the Xbox Games Showcase below:

Among other details, it is known that Tom Kenny, the original voice of Spyro, will return to his role in the new game. Additionally, Paul Yan, the head of Toys for Bob studio, has stated that the developers aim not to create just a one-time game but to lay the foundation for a full revival of the franchise. The game is set to be released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 in the spring of 2027. The exact release date remains unknown.

You can also check out everything that was announced and revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026.
