First Look at Aspyr's Cancelled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Surfaced

It is known that several games set in the Star Wars universe are currently in development, and unfortunately, almost all of them are still far from their release dates. One such game is the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which was announced back in 2021.

Until recently, the project was under development by Aspyr, but it is now being handled by another game studio division: Mad Head Games. Since the announcement, we haven’t seen any footage of the Knights of the Old Republic Remake, save for a few leaks. Speaking of which, a new look at the cancelled version of the Knights of the Old Republic remake has surfaced online—this version predates the game's shift in direction under Mad Head Games. The information was shared by the outlet MP1st, as you can check out below:

We see footage of an unfinished cinematic from the game lacking any textures or visual effects, suggesting a troubled development cycle. But what fans noticed immediately was the fully voiced main character, Trask Ulgo. In the original game, the character had no voice acting and only spoke through selected dialogue options.

It remains unknown when we will learn new details about the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. Earlier this year, however, a gaming insider claimed that the title under Mad Head Games' direction looks significantly better than the Aspyr version, suggesting we could potentially get a new look at the game this year.

As for other Star Wars titles, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is also in development, led by Casey Hudson—creator of the original Knights of the Old Republic, as well as Star Wars Eclipse, an interactive cinematic experience from Quantic Dream, the developers of Detroit: Become Human. Release dates for both projects remain unknown at this time.

Moreover, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a new racing title from Fuse Games—the former developers behind Burnout and Need For Speed— is set to launch this year. The game is scheduled for release on October 6th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
