id Software Shared New Details for Doom: The Dark Ages DLC

This month marks the first anniversary for Doom: The Dark Ages—the latest installment of id Software’s game series. As we know, the studio is working on a DLC for the game, and during the latest stream, a few details about the upcoming expansion were shared.

Specifically, Bethesda Softworks holds a Slayers Club Live stream dedicated to Doom: The Dark Ages’ anniversary, featuring game director Hugo Martin and senior community lead Joshua Boyle. During the broadcast, the developers shared new concept art for the game's expansion and confirmed that more information will be revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. In addition, Hugo Martin and Joshua Boyle revealed some details about the expansion. They confirmed that the DLC will provide players with more opportunities to explore locations, and some areas will feature elements inspired by Metroidvania.

According to previous information, also shared by Hugo Martin during another Slayers Live podcast, the DLC for Doom: The Ages is huge and feels like the game’s sequel. Among the other details, it will feature the quick-swapping tech and the return of Darin DePaul—who voiced Samuel in Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal and also Kreed in Doom: The Dark Ages.

Besides DLC for Doom: The Dark Ages, Netflix is developing an animated show based on the franchise, developed by Adi Shankar (Castlevania, Devil May Cry shows), to serve as a prequel to the game and will not include Doomguy.
