Gang of Dragon Is Rumored to Be Cancelled—Nagoshi Studios' Website Is Unavailable

Announced at The Game Awards 2025, Gang of Dragon, developed by Nagoshi Studios, led by the legendary Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of Yakuza game series, looked like an exciting upcoming project, but earlier this year the game has been surrounded by some really concerning updates that might cost it a cancellation.

This March, Bloomberg released a report that NetEase, the parent company of Nagoshi Studio, is about to stop the financing of Nagoshi Studios this May, as Gang of Dragon will still need about $44.4 million to be completed. The decision was made due to the Chinese corporation’s new strategy to scale back its video game development. A few weeks ago, the fans spotted that Nagoshi Studio had deleted their YouTube channel and all trailers of Gang of Dragon, which is not a good sign.

Unfortunately, we have another disappointed report that might be one of the last nails in the coffin for Nagoshi Studios is that the developers' website has stopped functioning. At this point, there is no statement from Nagoshi Studios or NetEase about the cancellation of Gang of Dragon, but it now looks like a question of time.

Gang of Dragon is an AAA action-adventure set in Japan, primarily in the real-life Kabuchiko district, which is famous for its nightclubs and mafia showdowns. It follows a story about Shin Ji-seong (Ma Dong-seok), who finds himself caught up in a struggle between rival factions, yet at the same time forms deep personal bonds that radically change his outlook on life. So far, the game is confirmed to be released only on PC.
