Recently Announced Gang of Dragon Could Be Cancelled Soon
Back at The Game Awards 2025, the creator of Yakuza game series, Toshihiro Nagoshi, revealed his new video game, Gang of Dragon, developed by Nagoshi Studio. We saw a spectacular trailer featuring Ma Dong-seok, and the game has already recommended itself as a promising, action-packed ride.
However, less than three months since its announcement, the project is now at risk of being cancelled. According to the new Bloomberg report, NetEase, the parent company of Nagoshi Studio, will stop financing the gaming studio this May, and Gang of Dragon will need about $44.4 million to be completed. It is also mentioned that Nagoshi Studio could face closure due to this inconsistent situation, and Gang of Dragon could be cancelled. There is also a chance the development of the game could be transferred to another developer, as “Nagoshi is trying to find new sponsors,” but there is no progress at the moment.
This is definitely a worrying sign for Nagoshi Studio and Gang of Dragon. The fans are hopeful the game won’t be cancelled, and NetEase will find a compromise to fix this situation. It is mentioned NetEase will stop financing Nagoshi Studio in May, so it won’t be too long to find out what will happen to the studio and the game.
Gang of Dragon was announced at The Game Awards 2025. The game is an action-adventure set in Japan and currently confirmed on PC only. The release date remains unknown.
