Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis May Still Be Released This Year
As we know, Crystal Dynamics is currently working on two new Tomb Raider video games—Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst. Both titles were confirmed during last year’s Game Awards show; they are expected to release at some point in 2026 and 2027, respectively, but the exact information about release dates remains unknown for now.
There have been some speculations that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis could be postponed to February 2027, which was initially reported by insider Society of Raiders and then mentioned by game series podcasters Tombs, Teas, and Trauma, who have some connections to Crystal Dynamics developers. They also mentioned that the official confirmation about Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis's release date is expected on Summer Game Fest (June 5-8), where the new trailer will be introduced.
However, it seems like the game is still being eyed to release this. As mentioned by Legion Looterana, Electric Square, the studio that is taking part in the development of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, alongside Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, confirmed via its LinkedIn that the game is expected to release in 2026. Of course, it’s not a 100% confirmation, as it goes not from Crystal Dynamics, but it's still a solid prediction that the game will not be delayed despite previous reports. It is also stated that Legacy of Atlantis will use Unreal Engine 5, as you can check out below:
“Electric Square is honoured to have supported Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog on their upcoming reimagination of Lara Croft's global debut in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.

Coming 2026.”
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is the remake of the original Tomb Raider video game, released in 1996. The game is also rumored to have more advanced action scenes, as it’s confirmed to be co-developing with Flying Wild Hog—the developers of Shadow Warrior and Evil West—and is also set to unite all the timelines featuring Lara Croft. As for Tomb Raider: Catalyst, it will be a sequel to 2008’s Tomb Raider: Underworld, and we haven’t heard much about the game since its announcement in December. The game is currently in development and planned to be released in 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. There is also a Tomb Raider TV series in development by Amazon starring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.
