Until Dawn 2 Rumored to Be In Development for PlayStation 6

Reports regularly surface online about a possible sequel to Until Dawn—an interactive horror game released by Supermassive Games, which also received a remastered version two years ago, in 2024. Unfortunately, Ballistic Moon, the studio working on the remake, shut down last month, but that doesn’t mean the potential development of an Until Dawn sequel has been canceled.

One of Reddit users stumbled upon a now-deleted post containing information about Until Dawn 2, which will be a PlayStation exclusive, has been in development since 2021, and will support DualSense features.

This also aligns with earlier reports that PlayStation-owned studio Firesprite is working on a project called Project Heartbreak, featuring a female protagonist and a story set on an island with horror elements and a non-linear narrative—which sounds very much in the vein of Until Dawn.

Moreover, the latest report from MP1st reveals not only some technical specifications of PlayStation 6 but also that Sony is negotiating with some unnamed studio to develop an “immersive third-person game” with shooter and horror mechanics using Unreal Engine 5 for the next-generation console. It might be another hint that Until Dawn 2 is indeed in development for PlayStation 6, but for now it’s just speculation and should be considered with a grain of salt.
