Studio Responsible For Until Dawn Remake Has Been Shut Down
Back in 2014, Supermassive Games released one of the best PlayStation 4 exclusives at that time—Until Dawn, a horror game inspired by classic teen slasher movies, where all choices you make will affect the story. Almost ten years later, the title received a remake for PlayStation 5 and PC, developed by studio Ballistic Moon, which included former employees of Supermassive Games.
Unfortunately, new update confirms the studio has not been shut down, confirmed by the Final Gazette. About a year ago, the Insider Gaming portal shared an exclusive report, which revealed that Ballistic Moon was “effectively closed” after an earlier layoff in September 2024. Until Dawn Remake was the only project released by the studio.
Supermassive Games is currently working on a new game in The Dark Pictures Anthology—Directive 8020. Just like Until Dawn and previous The Dark Pictures installments, the game is a survival horror with multiple playable characters and interactive features. One of those protagonists is played by actress Brianna Young (The Marvels). The game recently received a new trailer during the Future Game Show 2026 that you can watch here. Directive 8020 is set to release on May 12 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
