Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick Feels a Lot of Pressure About GTA 6 Release

Despite the immense anticipation for GTA 6 among fans around the globe, the developers face a huge responsibility, and it’s hard to imagine the sheer volume of work they’re tackling. That is precisely why—and not only for that reason—executives at Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, are anxious about the game’s release this November, unlike the players.

Specifically, this refers to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, who recently attended the Interactive Innovation Conference and gave an interview to Variety. During the conversation, he stated that he is under immense pressure regarding the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, as the stakes are higher than ever. “I run so scared with regard to all of our releases, just multiply it by a billion this time around.

I think the minute you stop running scared, you better get a different job if you're in the entertainment business. Because you claim success before you have it – you will largely be wrong.”

It’s hard not to agree with Zelnick. Millions of players have high hopes for GTA 6, and there’s a good chance that Rockstar Games will be able to create one of the best games in history—so there’s certainly a lot of pressure on them.

During the conversation, Take-Two’s CEO also confirmed that the game will not feature product placement, while Rockstar Games, in turn, hinted through news about GTA Online that the long-awaited third trailer for GTA 6 could be released as early as May 24. Developers regularly like to tease fans with future announcements using numbers, and considering that Take-Two’s next financial report is scheduled for three days earlier, it seems this date is worth circling on the calendar.
