Rockstar Games Employees Reportedly Sign Lifetime Non-Disclosure Agreements
Following the massive leak of early GTA 6 gameplay footage in 2022, Rockstar Games appears to have taken even more thorough measures to prevent the loss of game data. We learned more from a former developer at the studio, who revealed some rather significant details about the employees’ contracts with the game studio.
Specifically, Rob Carr, the former Rockstar Games sound engineer who has worked on plenty of the studio’s projects, including Grand Theft Auto IV, L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto V, has appeared on Kiwi Talkz podcast, where he revealed that future Rockstar Games employees are signing lifetime non-disclosure agreements with the company, with the studio remaining the only one in the market with that kind of strategy.
"With any Rockstar interviews, because of lifetime NDAs, I do have to navigate them very carefully and can't get into deep specifics, but we do cover a lot of his time at Rockstar as well as various other aspects about his career and his life.
That's why most former Rockstar devs don't want to talk at all. I tread very carefully with all my Rockstar interviews, as I don't want the devs to get into trouble, nor do I want to aggravate Rockstar."
During the interview, Rob Carr also suggested that Rockstar Games might have reworked the RAGE gaming engine from a clean slate to develop GTA 6 and predicted that we might see some features from Red Dead Redemption 2 in the game —not only the NPC dialogue system, which was massively upgraded.
Recently, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, confirmed it will hold another round of financial reports for the fourth quarter and 2026 fiscal year, scheduled for May 21. We are unlikely to receive any new footage of GTA 6 but might get some information about the game.
For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far, about the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more— here.
Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
