Bethesda Released Hotfix for Starfield on PS5 Pro—But Gamers Claim It Changes Nothing

Bethesda Game Studios has kept its promise and released a new patch for the PS5 version (PlayStation 5 Pro, to be precise) of Starfield, as the game was finally released on Sony’s platform earlier this month. Unfortunately, it encountered a number of issues on the console that, it seems, have still not been resolved.

This week, a lot of PlayStation 5 users have revealed that Starfield is suffering various issues—crashes, bugs, FPS dropping, and especially save issues. Bethesda Game Studios reacted well, releasing a statement that the patch won't be long in coming, and on their latest post on X social media they revealed that it’s already available for PlayStation 5 Pro users, while they are still working on a hotfix for PlayStation 5, as you can check out below:

“Today we're pushing live a quick hotfix for Starfield players on PlayStation 5 Pro that resolves crashing when using Enhanced settings.

The team is preparing an additional hotfix for other PlayStation 5 crashes and freezes, targeting next week. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to our support team, it's been incredibly helpful.

For PlayStation 5 players who haven't already reached out to our support team, and are looking to do so, please submit a ticket here: http://help.bethesda.net this way we can work with the team to grab your game saves and look into what you are experiencing directly.”

However, even though the hotfix has been released, the fans haven’t noticed any positive changes. The game is still having a lot of bugs, as it crashes almost every time players want to build outposts or customize their ship. What’s more curious is that the version of Starfield for PlayStation 5 has already received its first discount— it's reportedly available at £37 in the UK, while it initially cost £44.99. The difference is not that big, but given the fact that Starfield was released for PlayStation 5 on April 7 and it’s already on sale—that's bizarre.

Besides being released on PlayStation 5, Starfield also received a new DLC, Terran Armada, and the biggest update so far, Free Lanes. Although Terran Armada wasn't received very warmly, fans really took to Free Lanes update, which, according to many, significantly improved the game by adding a host of new features. Recently, the game also received an official rating for Nintendo Switch 2 version, and that could mean Bethesda might announce the port soon enough.
