Metro 2039 Will Be the Darkest Game in the Franchise

4A Games officially announced the new Metro game – Metro 2039, and the full reveal of studio’s latest installment will take place on April 16, as part of Xbox First Look event. However, some of the game’s details have already surfaces online.

Specifically, it’s been revealed that Metro 2039 will take place in the post-apocalyptic version of Moscow; we will probably see a new protagonist, currently known as Stranger, with Hunter, one of the most important characters in Metro franchise, is seemingly serving as main villain. 4A Games hasn’t revealed any official information of Metro 2039, as it will probably happen later this week, but Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky has hinted it might be the darkest game in a whole franchise, as you can check out below:

“This Metro game will be darker than anything you’ve seen before”

It will be really exciting to see the new Metro title, as it’s looking to be the most ambitious title in game series so far. Xbox First Look presentation will take place on April 16, on 10AM PDT | 7PM CEST | 8PM EET.

Few days before Metro 2039 announcement, it was revealed that 4A Games cancelled another Metro title back in 2022. It was a fully open world title featuring Hunter as protagonist and was reportedly based on Metro 2034 novel.
