Bethesda Reacted to Starfield’s Performance Issues on PlayStation 5
The long-awaited release of Starfield for PlayStation 5, Bethesda Game Studios sci-fi action RPG originally launched in 2023, hasn't been without its share of hiccups, as gamers are reporting widespread technical issues with the game.
Over the past couple of days, negative reviews have literally flooded Reddit. Starfield on PlayStation 5 keeps crashing and has save issues, and no matter what users try, they can’t fix the problems, so many of them are already requesting refunds. Bethesda Game Studios couldn't ignore this and has already responded to the numerous comments from players on their page on the social media platform X, as you can check out below:
“Thanks for sharing your adventures across the Settled Systems this weekend — we’ve loved reading them! We’re aware of some reported PS5 crashing issues and have narrowed them down to a small number of causes. We’re addressing these in a hotfix we’re aiming to release this week. Thanks for flagging, and we’ll keep you posted.”
As you can see, the developers are aware of the issues and have promised to release a patch this week. Players are hoping that it will fix all the bugs and make the gameplay more enjoyable.
Starfield’s version for PlayStation 5 is not the only trouble that the studio may have encountered since the game's release on April 7. Bethesda also released a new DLC for the game—Terran Armada—but users are not satisfied with its duration and weak story, as it currently has almost 60% negative reviews on Steam. On the other hand, players are raving about Free Lanes —the biggest update in Starfield’s history—which significantly improves gameplay and introduces a host of new features.
Starfield, its Free Lane update, and new DLC, Terran Armada, are currently available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
