Asha Sharma Said Xbox Game Pass Has Become Too Expensive
Last month, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Asha Sharma, spoke about the Xbox Game Pass monthly subscription and teased that Microsoft may make the prices lower to make it more accessible and attract new players. Many people received her words with enthusiasm and hope, and in a recent interview, she spoke again about the subscription fee—but this time in a different tone.
In the recent interview with The Verge portal, Sharma has revealed that Xbox Game Pass has become too expensive and admitted that subscription is not the best option for gamers. Moreover, she urged Microsoft to come up with a more attractive offer in terms of price and quality, as you can check out below:
“Game Pass is central to gaming value on Xbox. It’s also clear that the current model isn’t the final one. Short term, Game Pass has become too expensive for players, so we need a better value equation. Long term, we will evolve Game Pass into a more flexible system which will take time to test and learn around.”
As for now, Xbox Game Pass Essential costs $9.99 per month, Xbox Game Pass Premium costs $14.99, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs $29.99. As soon as Microsoft decides to make the prices lower and perhaps revamp their monthly subscription plan in some way, Asha Sharma’s announcement will likely come immediately.
This week, Microsoft will hold an Xbox First Look presentation, where the new Metro video game, Metro 2039, will be officially revealed. Also, the company confirmed next Xbox Games Showcase will take place on June 7. There are also rumors Microsoft can launch Project Helix, the next-generation console, this year, not in 2027, as was previously reported.
