Playground Games Confirmed Fable Will Be Released This Year

On April 12, there were alarming reports that Playground Games may delay the new Fable game—announced nearly six years ago—until 2027, on the grounds that the game might not attract a large portion of players this fall due to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.

As was revealed by journalist Jeff Grubb, the studio reportedly pushed the game’s launch in their internal calendar and is considering choosing the best time to release the game, with December 2026 or early 2027 remaining possible. However, in a conversation with X users, the official Fable account confirmed there will be no delays and the game will release this autumn, as you can check out below:

As you can see, Playground Games confirmed Fable will arrive in the period from September to November 2025, with the exact release date still remaining unknown. However, the potential release date for the game could be unveiled this week, as Microsoft is reportedly set to hold a gaming event this week, on April 16, as reported by gaming insider NateTheHate. He also revealed that the new Metro video game is expected to be revealed at the show.
