New Fable Video Game Might Be Postponed to 2027 Because of GTA 6

The upcoming Fable reboot, announced back in 2020 during Xbox Games Showcase, will be the first game in the franchise released after 2012’s Fable: The Journey. The fans are excited about the title, developed by Playground Games, but according to the new, frustrating report, the game’s release may be slightly delayed.

As revealed by Xbox insider Idle Sloth, with a reference to gaming journalist Jeff Grubb, Playground Games has pushed Fable’s release in their internal calendar due to GTA 6’s launch this November. As he clarifies, it doesn’t mean the game will be delayed to 2027, though it’s still possible, but the studio is looking to choose the right time to release the game to attract more players. “I'll say that I've heard that Fable has been pushed internally. That doesn't mean that it's coming out next year. Apparently they're still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of GTA6. And so if it's getting delayed beyond the release of GTA6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027.”

Fable’s reboot has come a long way since its announcement in 2020, as the game’s debut trailer wasn’t released until three years later. And even now, when the game seems to be ready, there are obstacles in the form of GTA 6—the most anticipated game of recent years—and, of course, the studio has to think twice about the best time to release its product.
