Rockstar Games Confirmed Studio Suffered a Hacker Attack

When it comes to leaks in the gaming industry, Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the games that is associated with this word. And it’s not a surprise that the game has suffered massive leaks over the past few months, including story, gameplay, and more. Of course, not all of those leaks are necessarily true, but Rockstar Games continues to fight those who want to gain access to their data—and this time, it looks like it’s serious.

On April 11, it was revealed that a hacking group called ShinyHunters hacked secure cloud servers of Rockstar Games and now, allegedly, has obtained a large amount of data. ShinyHunters is also demanding a ransom by April 14, or they will reveal the data they have. At the same time, developers have confirmed via Kotaku the fact of hacking, and you can check out the statement of Rockstar Games’ spokesperson below:

“We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”

As we know, this is not the first time Rockstar Games has suffered from hacking attacks, and we can remember the big leak in 2022, as a result of which a lot of footage from early versions of GTA 6 surfaced online. The studio is actively preparing for the game’s launch in November, which is why they will hold some testing later this month in India and the UK. The marketing campaign of GTA 6 is also confirmed to begin this summer.

Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed to release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC version is not confirmed yet, but according to the latest rumors, it could be launched in February 2027.
