Red Dead Redemption 3 Will Likely Be Released After Grand Theft Auto VI

Although Rockstar Games is working hardly on Grand Theft Auto VI, which will release this year on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Red Dead Redemption is yet another very important franchise for the studio. As confirmed via latest Take-Two’s financial report, since its release in 2018 Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 82 million copies and remains one of the best open-world video games ever.

It’s likely just a matter of time, when we see another Red Dead title coming on. And though it’s very unlikely to happen anytime soon, PlayStation 5 insider TCMFGames has shared that Rockstar Games might be doing Red Dead Redemption 3 after the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. He references Rockstar’s co-founder Dan Houser, who previously revealed Red Dead Redemption 3 will happen, but we definitely have to wait a couple of years.

“Rockstar currently focused on GTA6 but RDR 3 could come next;

- Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser last year commented on the likelihood of Red Dead Redemption 3;

- Houser said it “probably will happen”;

- The series is labeled as a permanent franchise indicating more likely coming;

- Red Dead Redemption 2 also sold 80+ million copies so more games seems likely;”

There is also a speculation the release of Red Dead Redemption 3 might be timed with the release of next generation console, PlayStation 6. According to the latest report, Sony has postponed the release of PlayStation 6 to 2029, and considering Red Dead Redemption 2 was released back in 2018, it’s likely Rockstar developed Grand Theft Auto VI and new Red Dead video game simultaneously, and it makes the release date of 2029-2031 more and more likely.
