Tencent Launches Sci-Fi Shooter Counter War: The Future in China

Tencent Games has officially released its sci-fi shooter Counter War: The Future (also known as Nizhan Future) in China. The game is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. Previously known as NZ Mobile, the title first revealed a trailer in 2022, opened pre-registration in 2024, and underwent two test phases in March and September 2025.

Cooperative PvE Action and Mech-Based Combat

Set in the year 2071, Counter War: The Future is a sci-fi mecha PvE shooter and serves as a sequel to Assault Fire/ Counter War (Nizhan). Players can team up to battle waves of zombie enemies using a wide range of weapons, including machine guns, lasers, and grenades, all powered by Unreal Engine 5 visuals.

The game features multiple modes designed to keep gameplay varied. Alongside traditional zombie-hunting missions, players can switch to a Tower Defense mode, deploying troops and traps to hold off enemies. Additional modes such as Mech Wars and Time-Space Hunting offer large-scale combat and fast-paced encounters.

Multiple Modes and Cross-Platform Support

The game includes a seasonal progression system, high-tier firearms, visually striking environments, and cross-platform support. A new 4v4 PvE racing mode further expands the gameplay variety, adding a competitive twist to cooperative action.

Counter War: The Future is currently available for download in China via the App Store and TapTap China on Android and iOS, with a PC version also supported.
