Game industry insider Tom Henderson took part in a video game podcast Insider Gaming Weekly, where he revealed that Eidos-Montreal were working on the game based on The Lord of the Rings franchise; it was set to be the project that should have looked similar to Telltale Games titles, like The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us.

It would have been an adventure game where all the decision would have had consequences; unfortunately, he didn’t share any other details and the main reason why the game got cancelled – massive layoffs and changing the plans inside of Eidos-Montreal. Considering current situation with workers at Eidos-Montreal, it’s highly unlikely this Lord of the Rings video game will ever be released.
