Clash of Clans “Meltdown Mayhem” Event Arrives This December: Everything You Should Know

A frosty new event is coming to Clash of Clans, bringing temporary troops, special spells, and a brand-new Hero Equipment for the Royal Champion. Despite the name, “Meltdown Mayhem” is shaping up to be an icy adventure as winter descends on your village.

Event Dates and Overview

The event runs from December 8 to December 29, 2025, and is available to all players with Town Hall 7 or higher. Upon logging in, you’ll be greeted with a brief tutorial explaining that a frozen meteor has frightened fire mites into hiding inside your Gold Storages.

Your mission is to collect Sleepy Mites, the event currency used to progress along the reward track and earn Ember Medals for the Trader Shop. The event building provides free mites daily and lets you track your milestones.

How Progression Works

You earn most Sleepy Mites by attacking Gold Storages during battles. Destroying a storage releases a small poison cloud, but its impact is minimal—dealing light damage without slowing down your troops. Sleepy Mites can be collected in regular battles, ranked matches, and even revenge attacks.

Throughout the event, your army automatically receives Ice Golems and Ice Minions in regular battles. You’ll also gain access to the Santa Surprise spell to complement your frosty arsenal. As you accumulate points, you unlock temporary troops and spells:

• 1,000 points: Ice Wizard
• 2,500 points: Ice Hound
• 4,000 points: Bag of Frost Mites spell
• 6,250 points: Ice Minion unlock

Event Rewards

“Meltdown Mayhem” features a generous reward track for both free and paid players. Completing the track grants 4,115 Ember Medals, while the premium pass adds another 5,500 medals, along with 600 Glowy Ore and 80 Starry Ore exclusive to paid rewards.

At the Trader Shop, Ember Medals can be exchanged for hero equipment, ores, and decorations. The highlight of this event is an all-new Hero Equipment piece: Frost Flake. Returning favorites such as the Magic Mirror, Spiky Ball, Dark Crown, and Lavaloon Puppet are also available.

New Hero Equipment: Frost Flake

The standout addition of the event is Frost Flake, a new Epic Active Hero Equipment for the Royal Champion. When activated, it allows her to hurl freezing shards at defenses, instantly disabling them. Even at level 1, it fully freezes the target—and the effect strengthens as you upgrade the item.

At maximum level, Frost Flake can freeze seven defenses for seven seconds, outperforming a standard Freeze Spell. It can even trigger Invisibility Spell Towers, giving the Royal Champion powerful new tactical options.
