Sony and Nintendo Begin Filming The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie in New Zealand
After years of anticipation, Sony and Nintendo have officially started production on the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, according to the Film and Television Industry Alliance. Filming is scheduled to run from November 4, 2025, through April 7, 2026, with the picturesque city of Wellington, New Zealand, serving as the primary location.
A Legendary Tale Comes to Life
The movie is described as a reimagining of the iconic video game series, following Link, a courageous young warrior destined to defend his kingdom from the forces of darkness. His greatest adversary is the evil sorcerer Ganon, who seeks an ancient relic said to hold unlimited power. To thwart Ganon’s ambitions, Link embarks on an epic quest across treacherous lands, facing fearsome creatures, labyrinthine dungeons, and mind-bending puzzles along the way.
Cast and Expectations
The main cast was announced earlier this year, though additional details about the production remain under wraps. With two entertainment giants collaborating on one of gaming’s most beloved franchises, fans are eagerly awaiting what could become one of the most ambitious video game adaptations ever made.
