The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack Brings Vacations, Treehouses, and Imaginary Friends
EA and Maxis have announced Adventure Awaits, the newest expansion for The Sims 4, arriving on October 2. The pack focuses on vacations, offering players structured getaways to new destinations, customizable venues, and a blend of supernatural and lifestyle content.
The reveal came through a YouTube Premiere, where fans tuned in ahead of time to watch the countdown to the expansion’s first trailer. The announcement confirms what much of the community had already guessed: Adventure Awaits centers on the long-requested vacation theme, adding two distinct locations and a new goal-oriented “getaway” system.
The two new destinations are Camp Gibbi Gibbi and Love Highland. Camp Gibbi is styled after summer camps, with woodlands, cabins, and outdoor group activities. Love Highland, by contrast, is designed as a resort with a reality TV twist, incorporating competitive challenges in a beachside setting. Together, the two locations form the backbone of the getaway system, allowing Sims to take vacations that are more than just time away from home.
Adventure Awaits reintroduces the Imaginary Friend occult type, a supernatural life state previously seen in The Sims 3. Known for its unsettling dynamic of invisible companions coming to life, the return of Imaginary Friends brings back one of the stranger features from past generations. Alongside this, modular treehouses provide new build opportunities, vacation venues are customizable, and Sims gain the ability to WooHoo in open water.
New careers are also included. The Park Worker career splits into Forest Ranger and Camp Counsellor branches, giving players options for Sims who want to work directly in vacation environments. Exercise options expand with spin bikes and free weights, adding variety for fitness-focused Sims. Older Sims receive the new Competitive trait, while children gain a range of additional Simology content, including a new Aspiration, new traits, and milestone moments that tie into the themes of adventure and exploration.
"Adventure Awaits is all about letting players design their own kind of vacation," said Sherif Saed, contributing editor covering the expansion. "Through the getaway system, you can camp in the woods, run fitness retreats, or even create your own Survivor-style reality show challenges." — Sherif Saed
A gameplay trailer is scheduled to air on September 10, giving players a deeper look into how the getaway system functions and what activities the new destinations offer. EA often reveals expansions in two phases, first with a short announcement trailer, followed shortly after by a more detailed gameplay showcase.

Adventure Awaits will launch with limited-edition pre-order content available until November 13, following the usual pattern for Sims 4 expansions. Pre-order bonuses often include exclusive build/buy items or themed outfits, giving early adopters small perks tied to the expansion’s theme.
The release of Adventure Awaits follows Enchanted by Nature, which launched on July 10. That expansion added fairies, a PlantSim overhaul, and a range of cottagecore and fantasy features. With two major expansions released within months of each other, EA and Maxis have kept The Sims 4 active in 2025, continuing to layer supernatural elements with lifestyle content.
The quick succession of expansions also underscores how Maxis has shifted toward alternating between fantastical and grounded themes. Enchanted by Nature catered to supernatural Simmers, while Adventure Awaits leans into vacations and community-driven storytelling, but still retains quirky elements like Imaginary Friends and customizable competition venues.
With its October 2 release date, Adventure Awaits is positioned as one of the year’s most content-heavy expansions. Whether players want to build elaborate summer camps, set up drama-filled beach resorts, or dive into the stranger side of Sims lore with returning occult types, the pack offers a broad set of tools. By combining structured vacations with player-made venues and fresh careers, Maxis is giving Simmers new ways to blend sandbox creativity with guided storytelling.
