A Strong Start with a Unique Formula

Since its release on June 19, Rematch has captured players’ attention with a refreshing take on soccer. The game broke past 92,000 concurrent players on Steam during its first day—a testament to its appeal. Unlike traditional football sims, Rematch throws out the rulebook: no fouls, no offsides, no throw-ins or goal kicks. Instead, matches are played in enclosed arenas where the ball never stops moving. This design keeps the momentum alive and places heavy emphasis on dribbling, movement, and split-second scoring opportunities.

Puma Enters the Arena

On June 27, Rematch announced its first cosmetic collaboration, partnering with Puma to bring authentic branded gear into the game. Players can now suit up in Puma-branded jerseys, shorts, shin guards, and boots, all inspired by the company’s iconic designs. The gear even features pieces from Puma’s real-world Future line, known for its emphasis on performance and innovation in football gear.

This launch is just the beginning of the collaboration. Sloclap confirmed that more Puma-themed content is already in development, promising “more to come” for players who want to customize their on-field presence in style.

Perfect Fit: Gaming Meets Football Culture

In a joint press release, Félix Garczynski, Head of Marketing & Publishing at Sloclap, emphasized how natural the partnership is: “Rematch is all about energy, competition, and self-expression—and Puma is the perfect partner to bring that to life.” Ivan Dashkov, Puma’s Director of Emerging Marketing Technology, echoed the sentiment, noting that football is deeply woven into Puma’s identity, making this a seamless collaboration between sport and gaming culture.

Sloclap also reassured players that crossplay functionality is in the works, highlighting it as a top priority for the team.

Addressing Bugs and Building Momentum

While the game’s launch has been largely successful, it hasn't been without a few hiccups. Thankfully, the dev team has acted swiftly. A recent update patch addressed two significant exploits:

  • The “Dolphin Dive”, which let players bypass stamina limitations.
  • A wall dribbling/climbing glitch, enabling unnatural traversal of the arena.

The patch also smoothed out camera jitter during goal replays and introduced several performance improvements to enhance overall game stability.

With a unique spin on football gameplay and now a high-profile partnership with Puma, Rematch is carving out a distinctive identity in the world of sports games—combining streetwear flair with nonstop arcade action.
