Surprising Protagonist in the New God of War Game Revealed by Insider

The new mainline God of War game is confirmed to be in development at Santa Monica Studio. There are no official details of where the game will be set, who will be the main character, there are only speculations and rumors. But the game is likely to be revealed this summer, as recently revealed by the voice of Kratos in God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok, Christopher Judge.

New God of War title is heavily rumored to take place in Egypt, although, Greek setting is still remains possible. The fans have also noticed something intriguing in the LinkedIn account of former Santa Monica developer. The description says he was working on a “new franchise in the God of War universe”, which is definitely adding fuel to the fire about the upcoming new title.

At the same time, reliable gaming insider NateTheHate has given some additional info on the new God of War game. He confirms it’s set in the God of War universe and reveals the main character of the game – it will be Faye. Scooper also gives an update about its setting, gameplay and possible release window, as you can check below:

“Here's what I have heard:

Yes, the game is set within the God of War universe & the lead character will be Faye. Gameplay is said to differ from the Norse God of War games with more of a focus on action.

Current plan: Reveal this year/release first half 2027 - barring any delay”

Faye, also known as Laufey, appears in God of War: Ragnarok. She is a Jotunn warrior of Midgard but more importantly – the second wife of Kratos and the mother of Atreus.

If that insider’s report is true, this will be the first time in the God of War universe, where Kratos will be replaced as the main characters; moreover, the new God of War game for the first time will feature a female led, which is definitely a bold move by Santa Monica Studio.

The studio is also working on God of War Trilogy Remake for PlayStation 5, which was announced at PlayStation’s State of Play last month. TC Carson will voice Kratos once again, and the game is still at early stage of development and doesn’t have a release date.
