Epic Games Set to Retire Team Rumble as New Game Modes Launch in Fortnite
A popular Fortnite leaker has revealed that Team Rumble, one of the game’s longest-running and most beloved modes, will be removed following the next major update on June 18. This change coincides with the ongoing Chapter 6, Season 3, which includes a notable crossover with James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.
Blitz Royale: A Fast-Paced New Mode for All Platforms
Alongside the update, Epic Games is set to introduce a new game mode called Blitz Royale, officially launching on June 18. Initially designed with mobile gameplay in mind, Blitz Royale will be available across all platforms and support full crossplay. The mode is structured for 32 players and focuses on quick, five-minute matches, promising fast and intense action.
Leakers have hinted that Blitz Royale will receive regular weekly updates, possibly including collaborations with major franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Dragon Ball.
Team Rumble to Be Replaced by a New Training Ground Mode
According to a tweet by prominent leaker HYPEX, the arrival of Blitz Royale also signals the departure of Team Rumble. In its place, Epic Games is reportedly introducing a training ground mode. This new mode will feature unlimited respawns and be set in a single location, offering players a space to sharpen their skills without the pressure of traditional competition.
Unlike Team Rumble, the training ground will likely not support quest progression and will not include building mechanics, shifting the gameplay emphasis squarely to shooting and combat practice.
Mixed Reactions from the Fortnite Community
Fan reactions have been divided. On Reddit, some users expressed nostalgia and appreciation for Team Rumble—even if they no longer played it. Others highlighted its utility for completing quests efficiently. While a portion of the community hasn’t interacted with the mode in some time, its removal still marks the end of an era for longtime players.
Plenty of New Content Coming June 18
Despite the retirement of Team Rumble, June 18 brings a wave of new content to Fortnite. Highlights include:
- Fortnite Ballistic receiving an update with new weapons, gadgets, and a brand-new map called K-Zone Commons.
- Season 9 of Fortnite Festival, headlined by Bruno Mars.
- A new PvE game mode, LEGO Fortnite: Expeditions, supporting up to four players and offering a high-energy cooperative experience.
With so many fresh additions, Epic Games seems determined to keep Fortnite exciting and evolving—even as it says goodbye to one of its classic modes. Despite the changes, many in the community remain hopeful about the game's future.
