Arrowhead to Begin Work on a New Game, But Helldivers 2 Will Continue to Receive Full Support
Arrowhead Studios recently released a new update for Helldivers 2, and shortly after, the company's CEO Shams Jorjani shared some big news on Discord: by the end of the year, the team will begin working on a new game.
However, fans have nothing to worry about. Jorjani assured that support for Helldivers 2 will not stop — in fact, it will remain strong. According to him, only a small part of the team will gradually shift to the next project, while the core development team will continue working on the shooter.
Interestingly, Arrowhead plans to fully self-fund its next game. This gives the studio complete creative freedom — no platform restrictions and maximum accessibility for players around the world. And such ambition is well-justified: Helldivers 2 has already become a true phenomenon in the co-op shooter genre, selling over 15 million copies and receiving glowing reviews from both critics and players.
One of the most unique features of the game is the developers’ direct involvement in live gameplay — through the “Game Master,” a studio employee who intervenes in real-time battles to add new challenges and dynamic twists. This kind of interaction has been a major driver behind the game’s explosive popularity.
It's also worth noting that in early 2025, Arrowhead underwent leadership changes: studio founder Johan Pilestedt handed over the CEO position to Shams Jorjani to focus on creative work. He now leads the studio’s creative direction, giving the team a fresh boost in both management and future development.
