WWE 2K25 Kicks Off DLC Season with Rising Stars and a Mystery Guest
WWE 2K25’s DLC rollout has officially begun. The first pack, New Wave, just dropped, and it’s all about the fresh blood. This one’s for fans who keep tabs on NXT and the indie scene, because while it’s missing megastar names, it’s packed with potential.
The New Wave Pack includes four new wrestlers: Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin of Motor City Machine Guns fame, plus NXT newcomers Stephanie Vaquer and Giulia. All four are now fully playable, complete with MyFaction cards, 40 new moves, and fresh taunts for your Create-a-Wrestler setup.
Also included is a wildcard—2K says a “special celebrity guest character” will join the pack via an upcoming WWE reveal. No name yet, but the last few years have seen everything from Logan Paul to Bad Bunny in the ring, so your guess is as good as ours.
An exciting announcement from WWE will reveal the guest soon.
But this is just the first round. WWE 2K25 is scheduled to get five total DLC packs, each with new wrestlers, themed content, and guest surprises. Next up is Dunk & Destruction, dropping next month with Abyss, The Great Khali, and three crossover NBA players. Yes, that’s right—basketball stars are entering the squared circle.
Here’s the full DLC roadmap for WWE 2K25 so far:
- New Wave Pack – Out now: Shelley, Sabin, Vaquer, Giulia + 1 mystery celeb
- Dunk & Destruction Pack – June: Abyss, Great Khali + 3 NBA players
- Fearless Pack – July: New Jack, Jordynne Grace, Penta, Bull Nakano + 1 celebrity
- Attitude Era Superstars Pack – September: D’Lo Brown, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, Victoria, Mark Henry
- Saturday Night’s Main Event Pack – November: Jesse Ventura, Mr. Wonderful, Tito Santana, Junkyard Dog, Sid Justice
That’s a pretty hefty mix of hardcore icons, retro favorites, and modern powerhouses. But 2K isn’t just padding the roster—they’re also expanding The Island mode.

The Island launched as WWE 2K25’s big new experiment. Think open-world wrestling quests with heavy RPG flavor. The first chapter dropped with the base game, and Chapter 2 is “arriving soon”, bringing:
- 11 new quests
- 44 new matches
- New unlockables (Zero, Xavier Woods' alter ego, and Paul Bearer’s ghost)
- New branded gear
Even if the mode caught flak for microtransactions (and it did), the amount of match content coming here is still meaty for completionists.
WWE’s Video Game Legacy: A Brief Look
As WWE 2K25 evolves with modern DLC and live updates, it's worth remembering how far this franchise has come. Before 2K took over, wrestling games ran deep with legends, jank, and genre-defining hits. Here's a quick breakdown of key titles:
Title | Year | Metacritic Score |
WWF No Mercy | 2000 | 89 |
SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain | 2003 | 85 |
WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2006 | 2005 | 84 |
WWE '13 | 2012 | 80 |
WWE 2K14 | 2013 | 74 |
WWE 2K20 | 2019 | 43 |
WWE 2K22 | 2022 | 77 |
WWE 2K23 | 2023 | 79 |
WWE 2K25 | 2025 | 81 (current) |
From Here Comes the Pain to the wreck that was 2K20, fans have seen it all. Thankfully, WWE 2K25 continues the post-2K20 recovery arc. According to critics, it improves on its predecessor in almost every way, except The Island, which remains divisive due to what some are calling “blatant pay-to-win mechanics.”
Still, 2K’s strategy here is clear: a steady stream of new content, a flexible roster, and enough nostalgia bait to keep old-school fans locked in. The DLC plan covers every type of fan—Attitude Era diehards, indie darlings, and even curious NBA players testing the ropes.
The New Wave Pack may not be the flashiest drop, but it’s a solid start. For the full star power punch, we’ll have to wait for the Attitude Era drop or the Saturday Night’s Main Event pack to land.
Until then, keep an eye out for that mystery celebrity reveal. It could be a household name. Or it could be another streamer who took a bump at WrestleMania. Either way, WWE 2K25 isn’t slowing down, and neither is the DLC machine.
