Assassin’s Creed Hexe’s Creative Director Has Left Ubisoft
Back in September 2022, Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Hexe—the next mainline video game set to release after Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was announced the same day. Although Shadows was released last year, the situation with Hexe is different: the game still doesn’t have a release date, and we haven’t seen anything about it except the reveal trailer almost 4 years ago.
There is another reason to be worried about Assassin’s Creed Hexe, as Clint Hocking, who was the creative director of the upcoming title, has left Ubisoft. Ubisoft also shared a statement following Clint Hocking’s departure:
“We sincerely thank Clint for his vision, creative contributions, and dedication over the years, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter. Development on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe continues with a seasoned team. The game will deliver something distinctive within the Assassin’s Creed franchise. We look forward to sharing more information in the future.”
Clint Hocking started his career at Ubisoft in 2001. He was the creative director of such titles as Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion. He will be replaced by Jean Guesdon, who will now serve as creative director of Assassin’s Creed Hexe. Not only that, but he also confirmed to be the new head of the content of Assassin’s Creed brand; Ubisoft recently revealed the new team, which will “shape the Next Era of Assassin’s Creed”, and alongside Jean Guesdon, there are Martin Schelling (senior producer on Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla), who is appointed as the head of brand, and François de Billy (production director of Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla) who will be the head of production excellence.

Besides Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Ubisoft is also working on the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which is still unannounced and doesn’t have a release date. Moreover, there is a multiplayer Assassin’s Creed title called Assassin’s Creed Invictus.
