Fortnite Returns to iPhones in the U.S. — With a Major Twist

On April 30, 2025, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney officially confirmed that Fortnite Mobile is making its long-awaited return to iPhones in the United States. The announcement follows a significant shift in Apple’s App Store policies, allowing developers to include external payment links and alternative purchasing systems — the very issue that ignited the Epic vs. Apple legal battle back in 2020.

Apple Changes Course After Legal Pressure

As of May 1, Apple has updated its App Store guidelines to comply with court rulings, now permitting app developers to direct users toward non-Apple payment methods. This reversal removes the roadblock that originally led to Fortnite’s removal from the iOS App Store, paving the way for its return.

Epic Confirms: Fortnite Returns Next Week

Epic Games confirmed the news with a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

  • Fortnite will be back on the iOS App Store in the U.S. next week (between May 10–15, pending Apple’s final approval)
  • iPhone and iPad users will be able to download it directly once again
  • Full crossplay with console and PC will be supported
  • Access to all Battle Royale and Creative content will be available from day one
  • All players will receive 20% back in Epic Rewards

Two Payment Options — One With Perks

When the game relaunches, players will have the choice between Apple’s traditional in-app purchase system and Epic’s direct payment method. Opting for Epic’s system comes with a major benefit: players get 20% back in Epic Rewards — a new cashback-style program available across all platforms.

Here’s how the rewards break down:

Purchase
Cost
Epic Rewards (20%)
1,000 V-Bucks
$9.00
$1.80
2,800 V-Bucks
$23.00

5,000 V-Bucks
$37.00
$7.40
13,500 V-Bucks

This bonus also applies to real-money bundles and limited-time offers. Earned rewards can be used not only in Fortnite but also in Rocket League, Fall Guys, and any game available via the Epic Games Store, as long as Epic’s payment system is used.
