The side-scrolling action platformer, which launched in January 2024, marked the franchise’s first major release since 2010’s The Forgotten Sands. The game launched alongside The Rogue Prince of Persia from Evil Empire, which remains in early access.

🔥 “The Prince Is Just Warming Up” — Ubisoft Teases More

In a celebratory social media post, Ubisoft declared:

"You've revived the legend. The Prince is back, and believe us – he's just warming up."

While vague, the statement strongly hints at future projects in the Prince of Persia universe — despite earlier concerns surrounding the franchise’s commercial viability.

Team Disbanded, But the Legacy Continues

Last year, French outlet Origami reported that the team behind The Lost Crown had been disbanded following underwhelming sales, despite strong reviews. Ubisoft later confirmed that most of the developers had been reassigned to new titles.

Senior Producer Abdelhak Elguess reassured fans:

"We know players have a love for this brand, and Ubisoft is excited to bring more Prince of Persia experiences in the future."

Growth Fueled by Subscriptions & Mobile

While The Lost Crown sold 1.3 million copies in its first year, its player count surged past 2 million thanks to:

  • Inclusion on Ubisoft+
  • PlayStation Plus
  • A recent mobile launch

What’s Next for Prince of Persia?

Although The Lost Crown's post-launch roadmap has wrapped up, Ubisoft’s wording implies more may be in development — possibly updates to The Rogue Prince of Persia or even an entirely new game.

And don’t forget: the long-delayed Sands of Time remake is still in the pipeline, now aiming for a 2026 release.
