Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay: Everything You Need to Know

Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay

Monster Hunter Wilds is a vibrant and dynamic game that combines various mechanics, making grinding and crafting especially engaging. It truly shines in multiplayer with friends. Many players are wondering: Will Monster Hunter Wilds be cross platform? The answer is yes—crossplay is supported!

It’s enabled by default, so there’s no need for additional setup. Simply share your Hunter ID (found in your Hunter Profile), and your friends can find you through the Member List menu and send a friend request.

The game features Lobbies, where you can check other players’ quests through the Quest Counter—a classic hub for cooperative hunting. You can also create your own Squad, which essentially acts as a permanent private lobby accessible to all members.

A particularly useful feature is the SOS Flare. If a quest proves too difficult, you can send an SOS Flare or look for active ones via the Quest Counter. This is the fastest way to join a hunt for a specific monster, as you can filter your search!

What's New in Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay:

  • Link Party – create groups with friends, and the game will automatically send you a quest invite as soon as one of the members starts it, even if you're not in the same lobby. This is a convenient way to progress through the story together.
  • Environment Links – a new mode for freely exploring locations with other players. You can hunt without restrictions here, but story missions and quests from the Quest Counter are unavailable. Essentially, Environment Links resemble Expedition Mode from previous Monster Hunter games, but now you can earn rewards for hunting thanks to the Field Survey Quest system.
  • Online Single Player – play solo even if the servers are down. In this mode, you can pause the game.

But don’t worry, it’s not as complicated as it might seem at first. Plus, we’ll walk you through everything step by step.

Monster Hunter Wilds Multiplayer: How Crossplay Works and Where to Enable It

Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay

Thanks to crossplay, Monster Hunter Wilds was able to attract a massive number of players right after launch, allowing PlayStation, Xbox, and PC users to team up seamlessly. The only way to enable or disable crossplay is through the settings on the main screen, so if you encounter any issues, that’s the first place to check.

How to Unlock Monster Hunter Wilds Multiplayer

Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay

To unlock multiplayer in Monster Hunter Wilds, you need to complete the Chapter 1 - 2 Back to Camp quest, where you'll need to speak with guild members. After finishing this stage, when you exit your tent, a pop-up about lobbies and multiplayer features will appear.

This happens roughly 15 minutes after starting the game, not counting the time spent creating your character and Palico. If you decide to spend more time customizing or experimenting with weapons before the first Chatacabra hunt, this process may take longer.

Once the multiplayer system becomes available, you will be able to join other hunters, create lobbies, and also use new features like Link Party and Environment Links to hunt together with friends.

Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay: Start the Hunt with Your Friends

Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay

We've gone over all the co-op options, including Monster Hunter Wilds crossplay and standard multiplayer. Now, let's go step by step on how to team up with your friends.

Monster Hunter Wilds Crossplay: Playing with Friends on Different Platforms

To invite a friend in Monster Hunter Wilds Multiplayer, open the in-game menu and go to the Communication tab. From there, select Invite a Friend. You’ll have two options: choose a friend from your platform’s friend list or, if you’re on a console, generate a QR code. This code can be sent to your friend, allowing them to quickly join via their phone.

Once your friend accepts the invite and joins your Link Party, you can add them to your Hunter Friends list. To do this, open Link Party in the menu, select View Link Members, find their name, and send a Friend Request.

If you receive a friend request, you can find it in the Invite Notification List under Communication in the menu. Once accepted, your friend will appear in your Hunter Friends list, which you can access through the Player List tab.

With Monster Hunter Wilds Multiplayer, you won’t have to send invitations every time—you can easily find each other and team up for hunts whenever you want.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Multiplayer Guide for Same-Platform Players

To add a friend in MHW Crossplay, you'll need your Hunter ID, which can be found in your Hunter Profile.

There are two ways to locate your Hunter ID in the game:

  1. Open the Menu, go to Info, find Hunter Profile, and toggle the display of your Hunter ID.
  2. Open the Menu, go to Communication, navigate to Player List, and check the Link Members tab, where your Hunter ID is also displayed.

Once you have your friend’s Hunter ID, go to the Menu, open Communication, and select Player List. There, you'll find the Hunter ID Search option. Enter the ID, locate the player, click on their name, and choose Send Friend Request.

Incoming requests can be found in the Invite Notification List under Communication in the menu. Once your friend accepts the request, they will appear in your Hunter Friends list, accessible through the Player List tab.

Now, you can easily invite your friend to a Link Party, even if you're in different lobbies. Simply select them from the Hunter Friends list and click Invite to Link Party—this allows for quick and easy matchmaking.

This method also works for players on the same platform if you prefer adding them in-game without adding them to your console or PC friend list.
