Among Us 3D Brings VR Gameplay to Non-VR Players, Launching Soon

A new version of Among Us is on the way. Among Us 3D will make the VR experience accessible to players who don’t own or prefer not to use a VR headset, offering a first-person adaptation of the original 2D social deduction game.

Innersloth and Schell Games officially announced Among Us 3D today, though no exact release date has been provided. However, it’s listed as “coming soon” on their development roadmap. A playable demo will be available this Monday during Steam Next Fest, a digital event where developers showcase demos for upcoming titles.

Among Us 3D stays true to the VR version but has been adapted for traditional gameplay, replacing VR-specific controls with a standard interface and adding a HUD. Importantly, crossplay will be supported between Among Us 3D and the existing VR version, allowing players from both to join games together.

While Among Us VR will remain a separate game on Steam, it will be rebranded under the Among Us 3D name to reflect compatibility between the VR and non-VR versions. However, neither version will be compatible with the original 2D Among Us, as that would require an entirely different approach.

Additionally, the developers revealed that a new in-game currency called Stardust will be introduced in the coming months. This currency is intended to expand customization options while supporting the game's ongoing development.
