Season 24 of Apex Legends launched on February 11, introducing significant changes to weapons and characters, despite the absence of a new Legend or map. Following last season’s overhaul of the Support class, Respawn Entertainment shifted its focus to the Assault class in this update. With the seasonal refresh, Assault characters gained several new perks, including Combat Reserve, Stowed Reload, and Battle Surge. Ash and Ballistic also received substantial buffs to their abilities. However, it seems Respawn has decided to scale back some of these enhancements.

On February 19, Respawn released a new patch that adjusted multiple weapons and Legends. Notably, the Assault class experienced a nerf affecting the Battle Surge perk. The scan duration after breaking an opponent’s shields has been reduced from four seconds to two. In addition, Ash’s double Ultimate upgrade has been moved to level three, preventing players from having two Passive and Ultimate charges simultaneously. Moreover, the cooldown on her Passive ability, Predator’s Pursuit, has been doubled, making it more difficult for her to chain dashes together.

Beyond the Assault class adjustments, the L-Star and Rampage weapons have been nerfed after receiving buffs earlier in Season 24. The L-Star now deals less damage and overheats more quickly, making it less forgiving in combat. Another noteworthy change targets the recently reworked Mirage—his health bars will no longer appear when scanned by an Assault class Legend.

These updates could significantly impact the Apex Legends meta in Season 24. Ash has emerged as the most-picked Legend, with a staggering 27.1% pick rate—the highest ever recorded in the battle royale. This surge in popularity is largely due to her new Passive ability, Predator’s Pursuit, which enables her to dash while airborne. Combined with the Battle Surge perk’s movement boost, she has become one of the most mobile characters in the game. It remains to be seen whether these nerfs will affect her dominance in the meta.

Respawn Entertainment continues to refine the game based on player feedback, aiming to maintain engagement throughout the season. While Season 24 has brought a surge in player numbers, ongoing balance updates may be necessary to sustain long-term interest and keep the gameplay experience fresh.
