Palworld Hits 32 Million Players Despite Ongoing Legal Battle with Nintendo!

Palworld has officially surpassed 32 million players across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, just over a year after its record-breaking launch. Developed by Pocketpair, the monster-taming adventure remains in early access but continues to grow at an impressive rate.

Given the overwhelming player response during its launch month, Palworld quickly became one of 2024’s standout successes. Initially available only on PC and Xbox consoles, Pocketpair’s open-world title sold over seven million copies within the first five days. Over time, the game expanded to PS5 and more recently to macOS. Following its remarkable first year, Palworld has now shared a staggering player count that highlights the game’s enduring popularity.

Palworld’s Explosive Growth

On Twitter, Palworld announced that it has attracted over 32 million players across all platforms. The game’s continued success has been fueled by numerous updates and content additions, including the well-received Feybreak update.

However, Palworld’s meteoric rise hasn’t been without controversy. Its 2024 debut was met with accusations of plagiarizing Pokémon, sparking an ongoing legal battle between Pocketpair and Pokémon co-owner Nintendo. Legal disputes between the two companies reportedly contributed to a nine-day delay of Palworld’s PS5 release in Japan. By December 2024, the legal clash had escalated to the United States, with Nintendo filing new patents, the latest of which surfaced in February 2025.

Despite these legal hurdles, Pocketpair has continued to release games on Nintendo platforms. In January 2025, the developer launched OverDungeon, a card-based game, on the Nintendo Switch—nearly six years after its initial PC release in 2019. While tensions persist, Palworld's success shows no signs of slowing down, as the game maintains its strong player base and frequent updates.
