Beyond: Two Souls TV Series in Development
A TV adaptation of Quantic Dream's narrative-driven video game Beyond: Two Souls is officially in development, with Elliot Page’s production company attached to the project. The announcement comes as a surprise, considering the game was first released on PlayStation 3 in 2013 and hasn’t been part of the recent wave of high-profile video game adaptations.
Beyond: Two Souls follows the life of Jodie Holmes, a young woman with supernatural abilities due to her link with a mysterious ghostly entity named Aiden. The game featured an all-star cast, with Elliot Page playing Jodie and Willem Dafoe portraying a government researcher who takes an unsettling interest in her powers. Page's motion capture and voice performance were praised at the time for bringing emotional depth to the story.

Page reflected on their experience with the game in a statement to Deadline, saying, “Filming the game was one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences of my career. The story’s rich narrative and emotional depth offer us a fantastic foundation. We want to create a unique vision of the characters and their journeys that resonates with fans and newcomers.”
David Cage, the game’s writer and director, also expressed excitement about the project, stating, “I know that Elliot has all the talent and instinct to make it something really unique on TV.”
However, Beyond: Two Souls is no stranger to controversy. Upon its release, the game sparked discussions over its somewhat convoluted narrative and gratuitous dramatic moments. One particularly contentious issue was the discovery that Quantic Dream had created a fully detailed nude model of Jodie for a shower scene, despite the scene itself not showing explicit nudity. This revelation led to legal concerns, as Page reportedly considered suing after the images surfaced online. Sony, the game’s publisher, later issued takedown notices to remove the content.
Despite these past controversies, the game remains a cult favorite among fans of interactive storytelling. With its high-stakes drama, supernatural elements, and deeply personal journey, Beyond: Two Souls has the potential to translate well to a serialized television format. Given Page’s involvement in both acting and producing, the adaptation could offer a fresh and more nuanced take on the story.

No release date, network, or streaming platform has been announced yet. However, with the growing success of video game adaptations like The Last of Us and Fallout, Beyond: Two Souls has the opportunity to carve out its own space in the expanding world of interactive storytelling brought to television.
