The Windows 11 24H2 update introduced several new features, including Wi-Fi 7 support, enhanced energy-saving modes, and AI Copilot+ PC tools. However, following this update, some players began experiencing issues that prevented certain games, including titles from the Assassin's Creed franchise, from launching or functioning correctly. Thankfully, the latest patches should resolve these problems for two of Ubisoft's games.

Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla have both received updates designed to fix the compatibility issues caused by the Windows 11 24H2 update. These patches are available through Steam and should automatically download, allowing the games to run smoothly again. Players should ensure they have enough storage space: the patch for Origins requires 230 MB, while Valhalla's update takes up 500 MB.

Windows 24H2 Still Causing Problems for Some Ubisoft Games

It's still unclear what exactly in the Windows 24H2 update led to these issues with Ubisoft games. Although Origins and Valhalla are now fixed, other games remain problematic. Notably, Assassin's Creed Odyssey continues to suffer from crashes and unresponsiveness. Ubisoft has addressed major issues in other titles, such as Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but some performance problems persist.

Players of Odyssey might want to hold off on updating to Windows 24H2 until Ubisoft releases a patch for that game.

A Delayed Fix Raises Concerns

It’s unfortunate that this issue occurred in the first place. Players had reported game-related problems during the Windows 24H2 preview five months ago, yet the issue wasn't resolved before the update's official release. This situation is particularly concerning as Microsoft continues to encourage Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. Fortunately, most games haven't experienced significant issues after the update.

Ubisoft's quick action to patch Origins and Valhalla is a step in the right direction, but players are still waiting for complete stability across all titles.
