Dark Souls Redemption Manga: Official English Release Date Announced for August!
The upcoming manga "Dark Souls Redemption", set in the acclaimed Dark Souls universe, now has a confirmed release date and will debut in August. Since the first game’s legendary release in 2011, the Dark Souls series has inspired numerous media adaptations.
Dark Souls Redemption, written by comic book author Julien Blondel, introduces a fresh, original story within the iconic RPG world created by FromSoftware. French publisher Mana Books is scheduled to release the first volume of this shōnen manga, aimed at a young male audience, on June 6. Fortunately, fans who don’t speak French won’t have to wait long, as the official English version of Blondel's 216-page spin-off will be available a few months later.
American publisher Yen Press recently announced that the English localization of Dark Souls Redemption will be released on August 27. The $15 paperback will be available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Indigo, Kinokuniya, and the Crunchyroll Store. Although details about Dark Souls Redemption are limited, the listing on the Yen Press website includes a synopsis and tags like Dark and Horror. While the Dark Souls games are not categorized as horror, they feature many tragic and heartbreaking stories.
Yen Press is also managing the English release of another FromSoftware-inspired manga. Nikiichi Tobita’s Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree follows the journey of a Tarnished named Aseo through The Lands Between, encountering beloved characters such as Alexander, Melina, and Ranni. This surprisingly humorous Elden Ring manga has sold over 16.6 million copies worldwide, with its fourth volume's English version set to release on October 15.
The Dark Souls series has been adapted into various media over the years. A comic book based on the series was released in 2016, coinciding with the launch of Dark Souls 3. The franchise also inspired a licensed board game that achieved its crowdfunding goals within minutes. There have also been rumors of a Netflix-produced anime based on the original Dark Souls, known for being one of the toughest RPGs ever made, although no official announcement has been made.
FromSoftware president and Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki mentioned in a past interview that the third game might be the final entry in the series. In recent years, the Japanese studio has focused on new properties, releasing titles such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Elden Ring, and Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. The only DLC for Elden Ring, titled Shadow of the Erdtree, is scheduled for release on June 21.
