Clash of Clans Update Removes Town Hall Star Levels and Reworks Spring Traps

Clash of Clans is set to introduce a major quality-of-life update that simplifies progression and reshapes defensive strategies. Among the biggest changes: the removal of Town Hall star levels and a complete rework of Spring Traps.

Town Hall Star Levels Removed

Previously, Town Halls from levels 12 to 15 and level 17 featured multiple star upgrades, requiring players to grind through several stages before reaching their full potential. The new update eliminates these extra steps, standardizing them to a single upgrade—just like Town Hall 16, which never required additional stars.

This means players will only need to complete one straightforward upgrade per Town Hall level. For those who found themselves stuck in the endless cycle of extra star upgrades, this change will feel like a huge relief.

There is one important catch: if you are in the middle of upgrading your Town Hall weapon when the update arrives, that upgrade will be cancelled without a refund. However, your Town Hall weapon will automatically receive the stats of a fully maxed-out version, saving you both time and resources in the long run.

Spring Trap Rework

Alongside Town Hall changes, Spring Traps are getting a significant overhaul. Instead of targeting multiple units, the trap will now focus on a single troop—the one with the highest housing space in its range.

• If the troop’s housing space is greater than the trap’s capacity, it will take heavy damage.

1. If the damage is enough to destroy it, the troop will be ejected.
2. If it survives, the troop will be thrown vertically, temporarily disabling its movement and attacks.

• If the troop’s housing space is equal to or smaller than the trap’s limit, it will be instantly ejected.

To balance this change, seven new Spring Trap levels are being introduced, ranging from level 6 to level 12, starting at Town Hall 11. The Builder Base is also included in the rework, with Spring Trap level 5 now available.

What This Means for Players

This update is expected to speed up progression significantly by cutting down on redundant upgrades, while the new Spring Trap mechanics will force players to rethink their base designs and troop strategies. Though some may be disappointed about cancelled weapon upgrades, the overall shift should make gameplay more efficient and engaging.
