An insider has shared information about an upcoming remake of the game Final Fantasy 9
Renowned insider Jeff Grubb, known for his mixed reputation, has announced that Square Enix is working on a remake of Final Fantasy IX.
However, fans should not expect a complete reimagining on the scale of Final Fantasy VII Remake. According to the source, the project will be something in between an updated version of Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII: Reunion. It is also noted that the combat system will remain true to the original game.
According to another source, the game's release can be expected in at least two years, and there might be no version for the Nintendo Switch at all. The possibility of timed exclusivity for PlayStation 5 is also being considered.
It's worth reminding that the release of Final Fantasy XVI is also on the horizon, scheduled for June 22 on the Sony console.
