The French government will review the use of game terminology in games
French officials have a policy of preserving the French language. As it became known to The Guardian, the French authorities decided to reconsider the policy of using the so-called "gaming jargon".
According to the Ministry of Culture of the country, which also takes an active part in the process of "preserving the historical language", English terms are increasingly appearing in modern projects. Often they can become a barrier to communication between conventional "gamers" and "non-gamers".
On Monday, a list of some of the terms to be replaced appeared in the official journal. Among them there are several well-established concepts
- Pro - Gamer will now be called Joueur professionnel
- Streamer (streamer) will become Joueur-animateur en direct
- Cloud Gaming will be used as Jeu video en nuage
- eSports in France will be called exclusively Jeu video de competition
Before the start of the introduction of new terminology, the experts of the Ministry searched for references to the above terms on specialized resources. According to officials, such replacements should significantly increase communication between citizens of the country.
