Ukrainian Armed Forces Coming to SQUAD Later This Year

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU)are finally getting their long-overdue spotlight in the tactical military shooter SQUAD. Developed by Canadian studio Offworld Industries, the game is known for its focus on realism — and the developers now acknowledge that a modern military experience would be incomplete without the inclusion of Ukraine's armed forces.

This move also makes perfect sense from a community perspective: Ukraine consistently ranks among the top 3–4 countries by player count, and SQUAD already features full Ukrainian localization.

What’s Coming in the Update?

The Ukrainian faction is currently in development and is expected to be introduced later in 2025 as part of a significant content update. In addition to adding the AFU, the update will include:

  • 🔧 A revamped squad creation system
  • 🏅 Match-end rewards to recognize player performance
  • 🌲 A refreshed Eastern European biome for improved immersion

Before That: Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade

Before the AFU update lands, SQUAD will receive another major overhaul that migrates the game to Unreal Engine 5. This upgrade will bring:
