FIFA 23 Esports Season Details Revealed
Electronic Arts has unveiled the roadmap for the FIFA 23 esports ecosystem. One of the biggest changes coming to the EA SPORTS FIFA 23 global series is the introduction of the new flagship EA SPORTS Cup tournament series.
Comprised of the world's top stars, top esports organizations, top football clubs, leagues and confederations, the FGS collection will showcase the next generation of esports on their way to the FIFAe Club World Cup 2023. Now that you combine star power with a robust ecosystem that gives players around the world the opportunity to become the next big star, this is undoubtedly the most important year in the history of the franchise.
Starting October 17th, players representing esports organizations and traditional football clubs will compete in 2 vs 2 competitions for three months.
Manchester City Esports, Paris Saint-Germain Esports, Fnatic and Complexity, among others, will compete in the EA SPORTS Cup ending January 16-21. The cup will determine the champion and two teams that will qualify for the FIFAe Club World Cup 2023.
In addition, more than 30 football league partners and confederations will host FGS 2023 tournaments, including ePremier League, Virtual Bundesliga, eLaLiga Santander, eLigue 1 Uber Eats, eMLS, eSerie A TIM, KPN eDivisie, CONMEBOL eLibertadores and eChampions League.
FGS 2023 Online Qualifiers and Championships will partner with PlayStation. As with last year's FGS season, FGS 2023 will run exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles.

FGS 2023 Esports Ecosystem Details
The general esports series will begin with open qualifiers in an online format. At the same time, the organizers united Eastern and Western Europe into a single region. Distribution of participants in online qualifiers:
- Europe - 512
- South of Latin America— 128
- North of Latin America - 128
- Middle East - 128
- North America - 128
- North Asia - 64
- South Asia - 64
- Africa - 32
- Oceania - 32
Players will continue to earn Global Series Points in every online qualifier, and as an addition, a new scoring system has been introduced this year.
Online qualifiers will run in a standardized format throughout the season in all regions where a sufficient number of players are registered. Qualifiers with more than 32 registered players will run over two days, with the first day being Swiss and the second being a knockout play-off stage.
Players must play in the same regional qualifier throughout the year, tied to their country of residence upon registration.
New to the FGS 23 season will be a $500,000 in-person event. On April 7 in London, players will compete with the best players in the world for one of two trips to the Global Series Playoffs. Players ranked first in the Global Series after the first three online qualifiers will receive invitations to the group stage.

The organizers are also introducing a new milestone in the esports ecosystem — Play-In. Here, players will be given the opportunity to qualify for the FIFA Global Series Playoffs. The Play-In stage before the FIFA Global Series Playoffs will take place on the following dates:
- Europe: June 13-14, 2023
- All other regions: May 27-28, 2023
The FIFA Global Series Playoffs will feature 64 players from all over the world. As with last season, players will have the opportunity to qualify through the Global Series rankings as well as partner league tournaments. From here, the top 24 participants will qualify for the FIFAe World Cup 2023.
